The Baofeng UV-77HP is part of the famed Baofeng UV family. It is very similar to the UV-5R I did a review on previously, and most things on that page also apply to this radio, such as its range of 136-172 and 400-520 MHz. There are some notable differences, however:

• This radio typically outputs 6W (despite being advertised as a 7W radio) as opposed to the UV-5R's 5W.
• This radio has a dual push-to-talk button, meaning one button is used on the upper channel and one for the lower channel.

Pros:

• Very low-cost
• Scans a wide range of frequencies
• 128 memory channels
• Simple to unlock transmit on all frequencies

Cons:

• May have "spurrious-RF" emissions
• Cheaper materials for construction
